A challenge to Cincy YPs
In the past few years, “Young Professionals” have advocated for themselves and gotten organized - forming social networks, political action committees, and more. For some resources on Young Professionals, visit this Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber link, or also this link. The goal is to make Cincinnati a place that attracts young and highly educated workers.
I would like to challenge the Young Professionals to help raise the profile of the school board race. It seems the welfare of the schools would be a natural concern for any Young Professional. Presumably several may decide to have children, and wouldn’t it benefit everyone if we had the strongest public schools system imaginable?
Because several Young Professionals turn into Young Families, they are natural advocates for the future of our schools. By becoming active and vocal in the school board race, the Young Professional networks can really raise awareness and help push thoughtful concepts into the public discussion. This would be good for every aspect of the city’s health as a whole.
CincyPAC is a political action committee representing Young Professional interests. Their website says they have distributed questions for school board candidates, and that they are scheduling interviews—but I have received nothing from them yet. I would like to meet with them during an interview, challenging them to push the school board race into the public discussion through their networking capabilities.
For too often, school board races slip under the radar. It is time to shine a light on the race!
